A limited edition of 100 print collections in the form of a book.
This is the exhibition catalog for "Voyage" by Natsuko Hakomori, an artist who creates works using various print media techniques such as prints, photography, and inkjet.
The exhibition, held at Kita-Senju BUoY in April 2022, was based on the concept of the artist's journey through time and space, featuring exhibitions and installations using photographs and inkjet prints.
The motifs include memories of the artist's childhood, growing up in Asakusa, various painting and printmaking techniques learned at art school, the history of humankind and painting experienced at the Lascaux caves in France, memories of the country of Japan gained from travels through Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the life of her grandmother, who is buried in Yanaka Cemetery, spanning from the artist's childhood to the present, or even the history before the artist was born.
For the production of the exhibited works, Tsutomu Kojima, a professional in inkjet art printing, collaborated, and the exhibition photos were taken by photographer Hideyuki Motegi. For the production of the catalog, the work utilized the Genkosha's art book publishing service "ARTBOOKS," and achieved high-quality printed materials through printing design by a printing director from Toppan Printing, high-quality digital printing that exceeds normal printing, and the use of high-quality printing paper such as VANNUVO.
The catalog is limited to 100 copies, and all 100 copies are signed and numbered by the artist.
The aim is to establish the original digitally created artwork as a physical print collection by publishing it in a limited edition.
Ukiyo-e prints, a popular culture of the Edo period, were a comprehensive art form created through the collaboration of artisans such as the painter who drew the sketches, the carver who carved the woodblocks, and the printer who printed the pictures on paper, along with the publisher who handled the production and sales. This catalog is made in accordance with that method, as a print collection in the form of a book.
